The Growing Attraction of the A-League

The PFA is determined to see the A-League be universally recognised by Australian players as both an essential stepping stone to a successful career in Europe and as a standalone career path for Australian players.  As illustrated below, 41% of A-League players in 2008/2009 are striving for a long and successful A-League career:

(2008/2009 PFA Player Management Survey of A-League Players)

In contrast, PFA research in 1999 saw 100% of players in the former National Soccer League between 17 and 21 aiming to play overseas.  In 2001, less than 10% of NSL players were not seeking an overseas career.
