The PFA is led by an Executive committee of current professional footballers who are elected at the PFA Annual General Meeting in accordance with the PFA’s constitutional Rules.  In addition to PFA Chairman John Poulakakis and Chief Executive Brendan Schwab, the current PFA Executive is:

Simon Colosimo

PFA President since 2004

In a career that has seen Simon graduate from the Australian Institue of Sport, represent the Socceroos on 26 occasions and played over 200 games in Australia's National competition (NSL & A-League) Simon has forged a reputation as one of Australia's most accomplished midfield talents. Simon has won two Joe Marston Medals - the first in Perth Glory's 2003 NSL Championship winning side and the second in Sydney FC's 2009/2010 A-League title. Now Captain of Melbourne Heart FC, Simon continues to lead the way for improved player relations for Australian footballers in his role as PFA President.

John Aloisi

PFA Executive since 2008

After spending 15 years overseas in a career that saw John scoring goals in the top leagues of Belgium, Italy, England and Spain, John returned home in 2007 to play a key role in the Central Coast Mariner’s A-League Grand Final appearance.  John’s courage and skill in successfully converting the winning penalty in Australia’s World Cup qualification shoot out with Uruguay in 2005 will forever live in the hearts of Australian football fans and this crowned a national career that has seen John represent the Socceroos on 55 occasions. John is second on the Socceroos goal scoring list with 27 goals and currently plays his football with Melbourne Heart in the A-League.  He is the only Australian to play at the highest levels in Spain, Italy and England.

Tim Cahill

PFA Executive since 2009

Internationally, Tim has been an inspirational part of the Socceroo’s success over the past 5 years. He scored a brace in Australia’s group stage win over Japan in the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany and has been integral in the Socceroo’s successful World Cup qualifying campaign for the 2010 tournament. Tim plays for Everton in the English Premier League. He has led the Toffees to European qualification and played in their recent FA Cup Final appearance, the second FA Cup Final of his career.

Ante Covic

PFA Executive member since 2007

Ante is one of the game’s most respected goalkeepers, and kept a clean sheet in the Newcastle Jets’ 2008 A-League Grand Final victory.  His club career has taken him to Greece, Croatia and Sweden. Ante’s international career saw him being part of the Socceroos squad for the now historic World Cup qualifying game against Uruguay in 2005 and the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.  Ante is currently back in Sweden playing his football with IF Elfsborg.

Chris Coyne

PFA Executive member since 2009

Chris Coyne moved to England to take up an apprenticeship with West Ham United in 1996. In 2000, Coyne moved onto Scottish Premier League Club Dundee where he spent 1 season before moving back to England to play for Luton Town.  Coyne spent 6 and a half years at Luton, making over 200 league appearances and twice winning promotion.  In 2007, Coyne joined Colchester United where he spent 2 seasons before returning to Australia to play for Perth Glory. At international level, Coyne was a member of the 1995 Joey’s team which reached the quarterfinals at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Ecuador.  Coyne is also a member of the Socceroos squad, having made 7 appearances since his debut in June 2008

Vincenzo Grella

PFA Executive member since 2009

After graduating from the AIS and a brief spell in the NSL with Carlton, Vince has spent the majority of his professional football career in Italy’s Serie A. His 10 years and 235 senior matches in Italy saw Vincenzo lauded for his performances as the ‘midfield general’, a role that he has gone on to perform for his country on 40 occasions.  He has been the midfield rock throughout Australia’s World Cup performances in Germany, 2007 Asian Cup campaign and the current successful qualification campaign for South Africa 2010.  Vincenzo currently plays his football in the English Premier League with Blackburn Rovers.

 

Jon McKain

PFA Executive member since 2008

Having spent 5 years in Romania’s Liga 1 with FCU Politehnica and National Bucharest, Jon returned to his home competition by signing with Wellington Phoenix in 2008.  Jon’s first season with the Phoenix saw him become one of the club’s most consistent performers, playing in 18 of the club’s 21 A-League fixtures. Jon has worn the Socceroo jersey on 12 occasions and was part of the Socceroos campaign in the 2005 Confederation Cup in Germany. Jon has also represented Australia at the 2004 Athens Olympics and at Under-20 level. He now plys is trade in Saudi Arabia with Al-Nassr FC.

 

Kevin Muscat

PFA Executive member since 2005

Kevin has been the captain of the Melbourne Victory since the club’s inception. He led the club to the A-League Championship and Premiership double in 2006/2007 and to a domestic treble in 2008/09.  In a distinguished overseas club career based solely in Great Britain, Kevin played for Crystal Palace, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Rangers FC and Millwall FC, where in 2004 he captained the Championship side to their first ever FA Cup Final. In 2006, Kevin captained Australia in the 2-0 win over Kuwait to qualify for the 2007 AFC Asian Cup, the Socceroos’ first foray into Asian football since joining the Asian Football Confederation.  Kevin has amassed 51 Socceroos caps, scoring a total of 10 goals.

Liam Reddy

PFA Executive member since 2008

Liam is currently with Sydney FC having joined after a short term agreement with the Wellington Phoenix. He has also spent time with Brisbane Roar and the Newcastle Jets having played over 150 games in his career to date. Liam is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) and has represented Australia at U20 level.

Alex Wilkinson

PFA Executive member since 2007

Alex is the captain of the Central Coast Mariners, leading the Mariners to their inaugural A-League Premiership and Grand Final appearance in the A-League in 2007/2008.  Alex represented Australia in the 2003 FIFA World Youth Championship and led the Central Coast Mariners in their first ever participation in the AFC Asian Champions League tournament in 2009.

Throughout the year, the senior management of Football Federation Australia will attend meetings of the PFA Executive to discuss the progress of the game and the key player issues.

The PFA Executive may replace a casual vacancy on the Executive arising, for example, from a resignation or a player’s retirement as a professional footballer. Retired players may continue to serve the PFA Executive until the Annual General Meeting following their retirement.

The PFA is delighted to announce, with the support of LUCRF. the nominees for the PFA Footballer of the Year, the PFA Harry Kewell Medal and the inaugural PFA Women's Footballer of the Year.

The winners will be announced at the Australian Football Awards on Thursday 7 October in Sydney.
