Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) is pleased to announce Dimitri Petratos as the PFA A-League Player of the Month for November.

The attacking midfielder is the second straight Newcastle Jets player to take out the PFA Player of the Month accolade after team mate Roy O’Donovan claimed the honour for October.

Petratos has been a key figure in the Newcastle Jets’ rise this season, which currently sees the side from the Hunter sitting second on the table and with the best attacking record in the competition.

The 25-year-old was a standout in a big home win over Wellington Phoenix in the first weekend of November and has continued on a rich vein of form.

Voted on by the PFA’s A-League based members, Petratos said it was an honour to receive recognition from his peers.

“I’m loving my football in Newcastle at the moment, Ernie has given me a license to be creative in the front third and I’m really enjoying it,” said Petratos.

“That attacking style of play has seen us score plenty of goals so far this season, I’m just glad to have been able to play a role in that and help the team find early success.

“It’s nice to be recognised like this by the PFA, but my main focus is continuing to build on our strong start to the season. ”

PFA President Alex Wilkinson said Petratos’ recognition was much deserved.

“Dimi has proven to be one of this season’s standout players to date and appears to be thriving since returning to the Hyundai A-League after a stint in the K-League,” said Wilkinson.

“After Newcastle playmaker Ronald Vargas suffered that injury, Dimi has really stepped up and is showing what he is capable of.”

The PFA A-League Player of the Month is proudly supported by PFA major partners LUCRF Super and Victoria University.
