Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) is pleased to announce Newcastle Jets striker Roy O’Donovan as the PFA A-League Player of the Month for October.

O’Donovan has had a blistering start to the season, the sharp shooter scoring five goals in the Jets’ four matches in October, including a hat-trick in Round 1 against his former club the Central Coast Mariners.

Voted on by the PFA’s A-League based members, O’Donovan said it was an honour to receive recognition from his peers.

“To be acknowledged by my fellow players and to receive this award, it means a lot,” said O’Donovan.

“We’ve had a strong start to the season and I’m really enjoying my time here in Newcastle, we’ve got a great group of players and Ernie has us playing some quality football.

“I’m just happy to have contributed to what’s been a really positive start for us, and have been lucky to enjoy unbelievable service up front from guys like Dimi Petratos and Andrew Nabbout.”

PFA President Alex Wilkinson paid tribute to O’Donovan’s impressive start to the season at his new club.

“It’s a credit to Roy that he has started so well after changing clubs in the off season,” said Wilkinson.

“His work ethic and commitment has been largely evident in the opening month and his form to date is certainly a contributing factor to the Newcastle Jets’ current position in the top four on the A-League ladder.”

The PFA A-League Player of the Month is proudly supported by PFA major partners LUCRF Super, Victoria University and Travellers Choice.
