MELBOURNE: Wednesday, March 1, 2017

Melbourne Victory players dominate as Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) announce the nominees for the PFA A-League Player of the Month for February.

Proudly supported by LUCRF Super, Travellers Choice and Winning Edge Presentations, the five player nominees list features three Victory players, following the club’s outstanding February.

Having been on target 10 times throughout February, the nominees for the PFA A-League Player of the Month for February, as chosen by the PFA Awards Committee, are as follows:

>> Diego Castro, Perth Glory;
>> Besart Berisha, Melbourne Victory;
>> Marco Rojas, Melbourne Victory;
>> James Troisi, Melbourne Victory; and
>> Milos Ninkovic, Sydney FC.

Starring throughout the Victory’s unbeaten February, Trosi, Berisha and Rojas tormented A-League defenders. With Berisha having scored four goals in four matches the trio were instrumental in the club’s pursuit of table topping Sydney FC.

Named as the PFA A-League Player of the Month for October, Nikovic has continued his stellar form for the Sky Blues. On target once, the Serbia International helped the run-away leaders to seven points for the month.

On target on four occasions in the past four matches, the Glory’s Castro has once again lit up the A-League. The reigning Johnny Warren Medalist led the club to an unbeaten February, which has seen them surge into third place.

PFA President Alex Wilkinson said the nominees underlined the quality of players plying their trade in the A-League.

“I congratulate them all on this deserved recognition and all five are worthy of being named PFA A-League Player of the Month,” said Wilkinson.

“All five have been instrumental for their clubs throughout the season and no more so than during February and the players once again will face a tough task in selecting a winner.”
