Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) has welcomed the decision to delay today’s match between Central Coast Mariners and Adelaide United.

With forecasts predicting extreme conditions for the original 3pm kick-off time the game has now been delayed until 7pm.

Having been in regular contact with FFA in the build-up to the match, PFA Player Relations Manager Simon Colosimo said the decision was in the best interest of all stakeholders.

“Player health and safety is non-negotiable and it is pleasing that FFA has taken this course of action,” said Colosimo.

“The conditions can have a major impact on the quality of a match. It is fundamental that every effort is made to ensure that games are played at times that are conducive to players being at their best.

“Better football equals more fans and this is fundamental if we are to continue to grow the A-League.”
